The Spanish government has announced a cyber security strategy to respond to future online threats to the country's security after a meeting of the National Security Council on 05 December. The policy framework was developed in collaboration with parties from the entire political spectrum and envisages the creation of a National Cybersecurity Council to oversee the implementation of the strategy.
The presidency of the council will rotate on an annual basis between representatives of the office of the president and the interior, industry, energy and tourism, defence and foreign affairs ministries. The vice-presidency will be held by a representative of the national security department.
