I serve on the Steering Committee of the ACM WiSec conference and am an Associate Editor of ACM TISSEC journal. In the past, I have served on the editorial boards of the IEEE Network magazine (2007-2011) and the Elsevier Computer Communications journal.
In August 2013, I started as professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Aalto University. I will also continue my current position, as a Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki until July 2014.
Prior to joining the University of Helsinki, I spent seventeen years in industrial research, first with the Security Research Group at the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory (ZRL) (initially as a pre-doctoral fellow and eventually as a research staff member) and then at Nokia Research Center (NRC), most recently as Distinguished Researcher. Before that I spent six years at MFCF at the University of Waterloo as a Unix Lizard. From March 2006 till December 2007, I also served as a part-time professor of at TML in the Helsinki University of Technology (now part of Aalto University).
